Frequently Asked Questions

Groveport Elementary’s PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is a fun group of parents and teachers working together to make our school a better place! We are a non-profit, volunteer run organization aimed at providing educational and enriching experiences and resources for our students and staff.

Who can join PTO? Any parent, guardian, grandparent or teacher at our school. There are no membership fees.

What do I have to do to become a member? Let us know you’re interested in getting involved by filling out our volunteer sign up sheet (flyer or online)! Attend meetings and volunteer at events. We will be holding our meetings on ____ this school year.

What does it mean to be a PTO member? You get to vote on what the PTO does at our school, and contribute your ideas and opinion at meetings. It’s a great way to meet other parents and staff. You can also volunteer at our events which is a rewarding opportunity to give back to our students and the school community!

Why are there fundraisers? PTO is a non-profit group, so the only way we bring in money is by receiving donations or holding fundraisers. The money earned goes right back into our school, students, activities and events. Participation in any fundraiser is always optional.

What kind of activities and events does the PTO do for our school? This can vary depending on the school year and funds available. Typically we host and run Scholastic Book Fairs, holiday workshop, 1+ speaker or assembly, other special events and provide give-backs for students and staff. In the 22-23 school year this included winter wonderland, the cupid shuffle winter dance and spring carnival. PTO also provided conference dinners for teachers, a fun staff appreciation week, created spring break kits for all students, and gave our teachers lounge an update/makeover! In the 23-24 school year this included a coin drive with indoor recess kits and a glow parties for each grade (for meeting our goal),  Brain Break live show with teacher video resources, Columbus Zoo assemblies, teacher and staff grants, winter wonderland, cupid shuffle, conference dinners, teacher appreciation week, spring break kits, spring family fun night, and helped coordinate and plan Recreation Center field trip days. PTO also organizes room parents and class parties for Halloween and Valentine's Day. This year we hope to give back to our students even more with some new ideas.

Your support is vital and appreciated for us to continue to enrich our school
